Fit4Fun Thursdays: Lovers Key Sunset 5k Recap

Yay! It's Thursday. Tomorrow is Friday and I am ready for the weekend! Especially Saturday because I can relax. Anyway, I sadly had to miss my favorite running day of the week last night. I had a work event and missed it. Needless to say I was devastated. Mostly because Brooks was in the house to test run shoes... UGH!! Kill me. I can't believe I missed it. So instead of talking about what we did last night at run club, I am going to do a recap of the race I did with Fit2Run on Sunday night!

I just wanted to share this cute picture!!
On Sunday night I drove down to Lovers Key State Park. Luckily this was not one of the parks affected  by the government shut down since it is a state park. This was a 35 min drive up the Florida west coast. It is quiet a lovely drive.

This 5k is part of a series Fit2Run is doing called Real Florida Run Series that does 5k/10k's through different Florida State parks, all over the state. It really is an awesome thing and there are a couple races near me. This was the first one I participated in. The race took place Sunday night at 6:00 PM

The 5k was a trail run through the back beach marsh of the Lovers Key. It was really peaceful. I just wanted to take it easy running. So as the race stated it was like running through the jungle! I felt so special! The course was all different. It went from grass, to mud, to sand, to grass, to roots. I knew I needed to watch what I was doing during this race. Because one wrong step and I could seriously hurt myself.

Mile one and two went by without notice. There was one water station. I was ok with that since I was taking my time. I was dodging roots, mud and water. I really felt like Indiana Jones! Mile three came around and we where back on the road heading to the finish. I soon passed Kimmi and Jill and waved. I realized that the heat and humidity was killer at the moment. But it didn't matter because I could see the finish. Soon I was running on a bridge towards the finish that was on the beach. The sun was setting int the background. I was quiet beautiful. I stopped for a min to take a picture. Then I ran to the finish.

My finish time was 36:??. I know it was 36- something. Worst 5k time ever. But the course was so beautiful and peaceful. I really enjoyed running it!

Until next time everyone!

Fit4Fun Thursdays: Fitness Challenge

Two day's until it's the weekend! For most of you that mean Tower of Terror 10-Miler Saturday Night. All I can say is jealous! I hope you all got to see yesterday BREAKING NEWS. If not be sure to check it out. This post was suppose to go up yesterday but with the big announcement it got moved to today.

Before I talk about my favorite day of the week I wanted to introduce a new concept (3 days late) to everyone that I am going to do and I hope you all will join me in this new endeavor! It is call GSC Monthly Fitness Challenge. Each month on the first of the month I will provide a calendar of a different work out movement. This month is abs so I am calling it CRUNCH IT!

So to explain this simply I would love for you to do this with me! I started this morning with 75 sit up's/crunches. I know it was yesterday. But I am skipping my rest day on Saturday and do my 120 sit up's/crunches then. But I would LOVE for you to join me in my Fitness Challenge. Please let me know how your doing too! I love hearing from you guys and interacting.

I will be doing this fitness challenge in the morning before I get in the shower. I think this is the best time (for me) to get this done.

Last night was my FAVORITE day it was Fit2Run Wednesday. Even better it's hump day! WHAT WHAT! But I ran with my favorite running buddy Kimmi. She pushed me at an AMAZING 5k pace. Not gonna lie, I was hurting after. But it was totally worth it!

Be sure to 'like' me on Facebook and follow me on Twitter.

Until next time everyone!

Fit 4 Fun Thur... Well Monday: Fit Nation Fall Social

Even though today is Thursday, my favorite day of the week is Wednesday. I will tell you this every week. Every time I see the clock hit 5:00 PM at the office I can't wait to get my running gear on and see my friends at Fit2Run. I literally have the best group of running friends ever. And it is all thanks to Fit2Run.

This week it was the Fit Nation Fall Social. What is Fit Nation (Aka FN)? It is a local fitness magazine. They are less than a year old but very active in the community. They have a social every season. The summer social was at a local restaurant. This time it took over our Fit2Run Fun Run Thursdays. Kimmi and the FN team did a great job.

Fit2Run was happy to host this event that not only had our normal 5k run but a bike course of 6, 12 or 18 miles. I obviously chose to take the 5k route. I have not come full circle to biking yet, even thought I own one. Maybe I should start riding.....Hmmm

The cool thing we got to do at this FN & Fit2Run Fall Social was that I got to test run Newton running shoes AND 110% compressions sleeves. The Newton running shoes where different. I don't think I would purchase these shoes. BUT 110% compressions sleeves, OMG I am obsessed with these. They have extra pockets to put ice. AHHH AMAZING!

The 5k route was the same as always. At mile two there was a young girl, probably in middle school walking and as I passed her I said, "Come on girl! You're younger than me! Let's finish this as a team." then I had a running buddy the rest of the way.

After the 5k there where table set up from local Chiropractors, massage therapist, different personal trainers, it was really neat. The best part? We all had dinner from Moe's for free. It was great not having to cook dinner.

I talked to my friends and talked to different booths and got a free chair massage. It was amazing. They had a great raffle too! Sadly I didn't win anything, but Jill  did! Lucky duck. It really was a great night to hang out with my running friends and have some fun! Love my Fit2Run friends.

Until next time everyone!

Fit 4 Fun Thursday: Swim at Your Own Risk!

I think I have my stride back! Last night was my normal run group 5k at my local Fit2Run store! Can I just say how much I LOVE and OBSESSED with this store and the people that work there? I have met so many neat and very cool runners over the past couple months runner with this group of people.

It has been almost a month since I have been to a Wednesday night Fit2Run Fun Run. I was there a week before I left for California. So it was so nice to see all my friends I haven't seen in a while. I almost didn't go because it literally had been raining and lightning since 2:30 PM. But I got dressed and headed to my run club

This Wednesday was super fun because it was a beach themed run. So I pulled out my bikini and wore it over my running clothes! It was really awesome if I do say so myself. This week was a lazy week for some people because it was raining so they skipped. Basically not our usual crowd. But I did make a new friend though! Her name is Jill and she is a local runner and LOVED runDisney like me! I know she and I will be fast friends!

It was also nice to hang out and see my favorite running buddy and store manager Kimmi. She and I ran the entire course together doing 5:2 intervals. 5 mins easy run, 2 mins speed run. It was a littler different than I normally run but so glad I hung back with her!

What I found the most freeing was that I had no music, no watch and no interval timer and it was raining. There are all things I had never done before. I think it got me centered again. Right where I need to be.

I feel great after my running tonight. I hope I won't be sore in the morning, but I don't mind if I am because I think I have my stride back.

Until next time everyone!

Fit 4 Fun Thursday & Meet Stella!

It's Thursday y'all! It is almost the weekend! And I for one couldn't be more excited because it means I am closer to the Dumbo Double Dare, seeing my Mama and because I have a race Saturday morning. Which I just now registered for. I am one of those last second registration people.

My normal Thursday post is about Fit 4 Fun where I talk about my favorite time of the week at my local Fit2Run store! But sadly I had a meeting last night at 6:00 and couldn't go to my run club. Worst feeling in the world. Mostly because I don't get to see my run club friends. It was really heart breaking. Plus, I have not been feeling 100% (Thanks Chris! Love ya hunnie!). So the real only work out I did yesterday was the .5 distance to my car and back! So I walked a mile. Wow I feel LAZY!

I just don't want to push myself and then not be able to go to California. That would be totally devastating to me. So instead I am taking the next couple days off. Just to be on the safe side. But as I said early I signed up for a race on Saturday, AND I signed up for a 2.5 hours of "restore and renew" this is yoga involving massage and yoga. I AM SO EXCITED.

Yesterday I received an email from someone on my Facebook Fan Page. In this email Cara the writer behind Running In Sanity featured me on her blog! She was so nice to feature me and I just wanted to thank Cara for giving me my first feature! You can check out her post here!

I've been meaning to introduce you to the little doggie in my header! That is my Stella Belle! I call her my "Little Assistant Puppy Blogger". But she isn't the only dog in our house! We also have a Morkie (Maltese/Yorkie Mix) named Lord Bentley (aka The Beebs). Our little Stella is a rescue and is 5 months old. The reason she is on my header is because she sits at my feet every morning and night, chewing on her rope while I write, update and do everything at my blog!

So here is a little photo shoot of Stella and I. She is my girl girl and my little buddy (she is literally 3 lbs.). Couldn't image life without her and Bentley. Oh! I also will be sharing a picture of Beebs too!

Until next time everyone!

QOTD: Do you have any pets? If so I'd love to see pictures of them! Share on my FB Page!

Fit 4 Fun Thursdays!

First off I want to give a shout out to everyone who got in to the Disneyland Half Meet-up! If you where like me, no work got done yesterday at my office because of this stalking that went down on runDisney twitter page and the Disney Park blogs. I just shut the door to my office yesterday and pretended like I wasn't in the office! I sadly did not get picked this time. I am totally batting ZERO for every races I've done at Disney. I am holding out hope for WDW Marathon Weekend in January.

Now to today's post!

I love Wednesday nights. You may be thinking "Why Kylee? Why do you LOVE Wednesday nights?" Because its Fit2Run Fun 5k night! Our local Fit2Run store has a Fun 5k every Wednesday night. It's a great night for runners of all ages to get together and run. Plus some awesome things happen during it!

Like last two weeks. We had an AMAZING opportunity as runners to test run in some new Nike and Saucony shoes. How awesome is that! I never met an more down to earth group of runners that are really there because they love the sport.

So two weeks ago I was lucky enough to test run a pair of Saucony shoes. I honestly had never heard of the company, but I know I have seen their brightly colored shoes before. We did our normal 5k run, then the fun began. I had a chance to win a FREE pair of Saucony shoes! My mouth dropped. One thing you must know about me is I LOVE FREE STUFF. I love free stuff so much that sometimes Chris and I go to Costco for one thing, and we end up staying for an hour because I want to sample all the free samples!

Fast forward a half hour of balancing a running shoe on my head, I came out VICTORIOUS! I bet out about 20+ people for a pair of running shoes. I was on cloud nine! Chris literally didn't believe, he said I probably bought them. Until he saw the pictures.

Last week I got to test out the new Nike Flyknit Free Runs. I have become obsessed with this shoes. And I may or may not have a new pair in my closet! But if your looking for new light weight running shoes to do short training runs or 5k's this is the perfect shoe. I wouldn't do more than a 5k in these though.

I spend more money on running shoes than anything else. I find it hilarious that I will buy running shoes full price, but refuse to but heels unless they are on sale.

Until next time everyone!
QOTD: How many pairs of running shoes do you own? What is your favorite brand/type?
